Good 50x70 International Design Contest, The Social Communication Project (June 2010)
This project calls for designers worldwide to provide poster design for use by non profit organizations. Valerie Elliott was a vetting judge for the POVERTY gallery, one of six galleries. The winning posters were exhibited in Florence in October 2010.
Rights Now! Youth Conference (Victoria, May 2010)
Valerie Elliott presented
"Sizzle! The Brand Within"
. This workshop for youth encouraged the discovery what is unique about individuals that fuels happiness throughout life. This workshop has been presented to both adults and youth.
Icograda Design Week 2010 (Vancouver April 2010)
This international design conference featured some of the most inspiring minds on the value of design. Valerie sat in on a roundtable discussion with Nathan Shedroff and David Berman.

Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, National Sustainability Committee (ongoing)
National Sustainability Chair, Valerie Elliott wrote the Sustainability Principles adopted unanimously by Council in April 2009. With her dedicated team from across Canada, the Committee also wrote the first known definition on sustainable communication design. This GDC work continues to provide tools and resources for the Canadian design community.

Valerie Elliott sat as a contributor in the development of AIGA's Living Principles and Framework. She remains a liaise between the GDC and the Center for Sustainable Design.
Small Steps and Big Leaps: Climate Action Mobilization (Univ. of Victoria, June 8 to June 10, 2010)
Valerie Elliott was an appointed member of the Citizen's Conservation Council on Climate Action from 2008 to 2009 when its term ended. The recommendation to the BC government was to engage various groups and industries so they could begin learning and working as partners on climate action. The network continues to grow today.
